Bureaucracy has a bad reputation and we try to avoid it.
But bureaucracy also has good aspects.
Having written down processes greatly reduces time spent on on-boarding, reduces ambiguity, and prevents mistakes.
A counterintuitive effect is that it also makes it easier to change processes.
It is really hard to change a process that doesn't have a name or location and lives in different versions in the heads of various people.
Changing a written process and distributing the diff is much easier.
This handbook is the result of an ongoing effort to document some of our processes. Contributions are always welcome.
